Eastbound Lanes of Sherman Minton Bridge Closed due to Crash

Previously planned westbound closure continues through Aug. 14

The Sherman Minton Renewal project team advises of the immediate closure of eastbound lanes of I-64 on the Sherman Minton bridge.

A crash involving a truck damaged a painter’s platform on the bridge earlier this afternoon and I-64 eastbound is closed until further notice until necessary repairs to the platform can be made.

In addition, the westbound lanes of I-64 remain closed through Wednesday, Aug. 14, due to a previously scheduled closure for planned construction activities.

Drivers should use alternate routes and designated detours. The suggested alternate route is I-265 and I-65. Regional traffic signs and variable message boards will be posted in the project area, notifying motorists of the closure and alternate route.

Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
