The Sherman Minton Bridge, which carries I-64 and US 150 traffic over the Ohio River between Louisville, Kentucky and New Albany, Indiana has been connecting people and communities for decades. The Sherman Minton Renewal is a major rehabilitation and painting project that started in 2018 and will add up to 30 years of life to the 59-year-old bridge.
Painting is a major part of the project and will occur throughout construction. However, unlike painting a bedroom or a house, the bridge painting process requires extensive planning and lots of paint.
As the Project Team prepares for the first phase of construction, starting with the painting of the bridge trusses, we invite YOU to guess the gallons!
Enter our official contest for a chance to dine at local restaurants around the Sherman Minton Bridge. Six winners will receive a $100 gift card to one of the six participating restaurants surrounding the Bridge. The participating restaurants were selected within a 6-mile radius of the Bridge. The winners will be announced prior to the start of construction. Thank you for your interest in the project.
Disclaimer: The true number of gallons will not be known until the end of construction, which is expected to be mid-2023. For purposes of this Contest, the winning number will be judged as the Project Team’s initial estimated amount of paint for the third and final finish coat. (The finish coat can be thought of as a topcoat that is resistant to the environment and provides color).
