Phase 3

Phase 3 of the Sherman Minton Renewal project started May 29 and lasted for six months. Phase 3 marked the beginning of construction on the top, westbound deck. Work included painting, deck replacement and any necessary steel repairs.

One lane was closed in each direction during Phase 3 to allow contractors to work while keeping the bridge open. Two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane were open on the bottom deck, with barrier walls used to separate traffic. One westbound lane remained open on the top deck, with barrier walls in place to separate the construction zone.

Temporary crossovers were in place in Indiana and Kentucky to allow a westbound lane of traffic to shift to the eastbound direction.
