Phase 5

Phase 5 Construction Info

Phase 5 of the Sherman Minton Renewal project is the final phase of construction. This phase of the project started  in early May and is expected to last through late summer. Phase 5 will consist of replacing the vertical hanger cables along the exterior of the bridge, replacing lighting, installing the Intelligent Transportation Systems equipment for traffic monitoring, finishing painting and adding permanent striping.

During Phase 5, traffic will travel on the original decks with no crossovers in place. One lane will remain closed in each direction to allow crews to safely install the new hanger cables and remove the existing cables. Two eastbound lanes will be open on the bottom deck, and two westbound lanes will be open on the top deck. Nightly lane closures on each deck are anticipated. These closures will be every weeknight for the next several months, with the possibility of double lane closures on weekend nights.
